| Description | •Participate in quality monitoring, improvement programs, appropriate education and training, and for documenting such participation. •Perform all duties and responsibilities with an understanding of and respect for the patients rights. •Collaborate with all medical laboratory technologists and other health professionals to ensure the safe and effective delivery of service. •Demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between quantity, quality, costs and the impact of a test on the patient, the laboratory and the health care system. •Report accurate results in a timely manner. •Initiate appropriate action according to established protocols when critical values are obtained. •Ensure confidentiality of all patient information. •Perform all required laboratory tests according to established procedures. |
| Qualifications | •General knowledge of microbiology - mycology and parasitology. •General knowledge of laboratory quality assurance methods •General knowledge of medical and legal risks. Skill in performing a variety of laboratory tests using both standard and complex laboratory equipment. •Skill in reading and following scientific laboratory methods and complex instructions. •Skill in calibrating and maintaining laboratory equipment. •Skill in recognizing abnormal values of the test results. •Skill in oral communications. •Ability to organize and prioritize work. |
