The incumbent is one of six procurement agents and provides procurement and contracting support for the embassy and associated agencies. The incumbent conducts open market negotiations for the purchase of highly technical automated data processing equipment or services, expendable supplies, etc. and applies conventional practices to resolve a variety of purchasing problem encountered. The work has a direct impact on the efficiency and timeliness of the Mission Program Plan. The value of a single contract and/or purchase order may exceed $250,000 and annual contracts and purchase orders prepared exceeds $ 2 million. Incumbent is responsible for contract procurement, including procuring items from Department of State-approved contracts, GSA, GSA-approved contracts, Internet, etc. Local vendors may be used for difficult-to-obtain items that must be procured locally. He/She drafts memos, cables, letters, and other types of contract administrative correspondence for the General Services Contracting Officer’s signature. He/She reports to the LES Procurement & Contracting Supervisor.
1. College studies are required. 2. Three years of experience in the field of contracting, acquisition, or administrative management is required. Candidates lacking U.S. Government experience will be placed at the development level LES-7. 3. Level IV (fluent) in both written and spoken English and Arabic is required.
